Google Business Kit Scam
58Google Business Kit - Deception That Costs $80/mo
I received an email this morning about Google Business Kit. A simple few lines with a link hidden with the use of tinyurl (which converts long names to a small url address for use on Twitter, or for making it unrecognizable to people who are savvy). The short message, “How YOU can make money.”
Now, I’m always looking to make more money and I’m always interested in what the latest schemes are being used to con people. People, Google Business Kit is a con job and a scam. Not that Google doesn’t pay you money, but Google Business Kit presents itself as something it is not.
This is a screen shot of their landing page.
Looks pretty legitimate, doesn’t it? It seems you have been taken to a newspaper that gives a full story about how Google is opening jobs to people who want to work at home and they are making THOUSANDS of dollars each week. There are even a few side bar insertions about the economy. The charge to get the information on how to work for Google is a mere $2.00 for shipping costs. You then see comments to this “newspaper” from people who joined the “program” and had immediate success. The comments are then closed due to spam being left on the site.
It gives every impression that you will be signing up with some type of new program offered by Google. You are not.
THE TRUTH ABOUT GOOGLE BUSINESS KIT
1. This is not a real newspaper. It is a sales pitch website.
2. All links, including those in the newspaper “categories” lead to the sign up form.
3. This is a program that YOU WILL BE ENROLLING INTO A SUBSCRIPTION – NOT WITH GOOGLE – RATHER, WITH GOOGLE BUSINESS KIT.
4. Your enrollment will cost $1.98 for a 7 day trial period. AFTER 7 DAYS YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY BILLED $80 PER MONTH.
Know that these types of businesses that get subscriptions are extremely difficult to get out of once they have your Credit Card info. They are notorious for continuing to bill every month even though you request removal – usually after the person discovers the large bill on the first bank statement they receive after joining.
They are not approved by Google. They state this in a disclaimer, but they know people do not read disclaimers. People also do not read the “Terms” provided in a link on the registration page. They know people are so tuned into trying to make money and their presentation has people focused solely on joining Google to make “easy money”.
Google Business Kit is using a method that is one of the more unique ones I’ve seen. I have to admit that it took me about a minute to realize that it was a scam. For me, that is quite a bit of time.
Don’t be fooled and don’t fall victim to Google Business Kit.
